JJ Grace - Project Worker

The project worker, JJ, started work in January of this year (2007). The Hub Project aims to link with young people who are involved or at risk of becoming involved in criminal activities. The project worker will focus on building relationships through various programmes and activities that are initiated by young peopleBoys posing for their picture and which gives them ownership of their group. A particular focus will be placed on young people between 15-18 years of age. However, various other links are been established to work with the younger age group as well. The project will try and assist young people in addressing issues in their lives which may be contributing to their behaviour. The project workers aims to provide support and various programmes that will divert young people from such behaviour.

The project worker aims to do this by liaising with the Schools, Garda Síochána, Probation Services, parents and the other various agencies that work in Carlow and its environs. The work that is been done includes centre based activities, one to one support, structured group work, outreach work, street work, drop in, skills group, family supports and contacts, interest based trips, educational programmes, recreational programmes and any activities that young people are attracted to. The project will also link with other agencies where useful supports are available and various youth projects throughout the area.
